Skiing:

SkiingSkiing is a winter sport in which people move across snow-covered terrain with long, narrow, specially designed boards called skis attached to their feet. Skiing was originated about 5,000 years ago. skiing is of two types: Alpine, and Nordic. Alpine skiing got its name from mountain range Alps in Europe. Its another name is Downhill skiing. Nordic skiing can be done on any terrain that has snow and is not too steep. Nordic skiing is also known as cross-country skiing.

Bobsled:

BobsledBobsled racing begun in 1877 in Davos, Switzerland. The world's first "bobsleigh" club was founded in St. Moritz, Switzerland, in 1896. By 1914, bobsled races were taking place on a wide variety of natural ice courses. In 1923, the Federation Internationale de Bobsleigh et de Tobogganing (FIBT) was founded and the following year a four-man race took place at the first Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France. A two-man event was added at the 1932 Olympics in Lake Placid. Two- and four-man teams (men only) fly down a mile-long, ice-covered course in an aerodynamic sled at speeds of as much as 90 mph. The team with the fastest combined time after two runs gets the gold.

Curling:

CurlingCurling is a winter sport in which millions of people around the world are involved and this sport was originated in the 16th century in Scotland. The Duddingston Club was the first, in 1804, to set out the "Rules in Curling". Curling is a competition between two teams with four players each. The game is played on ice, and the two teams take turns pushing a 19.1kg stone towards a series of concentric circles. The object is to get the stone as close to the centre of the circles as possible. At the Olympic Games, both women and men compete in ten-team events.

Luge:

Actually Luge is the French word for sled, and historical findings point to the existence of sleds, as early as AD 800. Luge events will take place at a track called "Spiral," the first artificial ice track in Asia, which is located in the foothills of Mount Iizuna in the Asakawa district in the northern part of Nagano City.
